In Wood County, the call to arms was heard by many willing young men to put their lives in danger for us by fighting for us. Corp. Paul Pazurek, brother of Priv. Peter Pazurek and Andrew Pazurek, of Grand Rapids, was one of these young men. He was only 19 years old. He lived with his parents until he enlisted in the Army. He went to the Mexican Border on July 3rd, 1916.
Paul Pazurek was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 25th, 1899. He and his parents lived in Saratoga, Wood County. Paul was liked by all who knew him, and he was a good student, he was on honor roll at Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. He was a good son, brother, and friend. He enlisted in the army on July 3rd, 1916. Then on December 10th, 1917 he was deployed to France.
He must have had a lot of courage to go into this war. Paul Pazurek was born a hero, and died a hero. He also helped a country out. His friends and family must have been devastated when they heard about his death.
