Louis Fleisner
On the day, February 9th, 1891, a hero was born and brought into the world in the city of Marshfield, Wisconsin. Louis Fleisner is known as this hero. While growing up he went to school and got his education. Prior to enlisting in the military services, he was a hard working cement worker for a fellow named Joe Schlagenheft. He was born into a family with four brothers; John of Milwaukee, Gregor of New Holstein, Frank and John of the city of Marshfield, and four sisters; Mrs Henry Lanzer of Port Washington, Mrs George Wolf of Milwaukee, Mrs Anton Weidman and Mrs Anton Beaver of Marshfield.
When he was sent over to Europe to fight the nasty battle known as World War I, he was assigned to the country of France in a city called Dravegny, with all of the other troops in Company A, 127th Infantry. It was in the battle that Fleisner was then shot and wounded in action near that city. He died in the Base Hospital at 127 Roady Farm, August 5th, 1918.
The sad day was a Monday, September 2, 1918, when Mrs Anton Beaver received the official message from the war department in Washington D.C., announcing the death of her beloved brother. The services were held in the city of Marshfield with a military escort at St. John;s Catholic Church that Wednesday at 9am. Louis Fleisner was one of the brave American soldiers who gave their lives in the cause of their country during World War I.
