This is about a World War II veteran named Henry A. Moen. Henry Moen also happens to be my Great Great Uncle. Henry was born in Richfield on March 1st, 1911. His father's name was Halvor Moen. Henry had four sisters; Jennie, Helen, Signa and Hannah. He had three brothers named Magnus, John and Conrad. The family attended school in Richfield. Henry joined the Army and trained with the Second Infantry in Texas from June to October in 1941. He was released from the service with the over-age soldiers and took part in work for the war effort in Milwaukee but, on January 22nd, 1942 war recalled into the Army. He returned to the Second Infantry, and spent one and a half years in Iceland before going to England in September 1943.
Henry took part in the Normandy invasion of June, 1944 and was wounded on July 27th in France. He was hospitalized in England but then returned to action on October 7th.
