Andrew Emerson will always be remembered for his service to this country. He was born in Loyal, Wisconsin, February 20th, 1898. He came to Wisconsin Rapids in 1922.
Andrew joined the army on august 17th 1942. Although he was in the army for only seven months, his service took him all over America. Emerson served at Camp Wheeler, Georgia, Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, Camp Carrabelle, Florida and Camp Livingston, Louisiana. At Camp Livingston, Emerson was stricken with pneumonia. He did not make to a battlefield but he will be remembered for his service. He was honorably discharged from the army two weeks later due to his poor health and came back to Wisconsin Rapids. He seemed to be doing fine when he suddenly had a heart attack and died a month later.
He was survived by his mother, a sister, Mrs. Leonard Pantsar, and a brother, Peter. All of his relatives were currently living in Wisconsin Rapids. Emerson was unmarried and lived with his mother at 150 Fourth Avenue North.
